Employment and Education
at Plymouth Bay House
Employment is a vital part of the Clubhouse's mission. Plymouth Bay
House offers many advantages to both members and employers.
One of the most important steps taken toward greater independence is through transitional employment, with members working in the community.
Members who participate in our Transitional Employment (TE) program are capable and efficient in their work. We’ve had great success placing our members in the community and the organizations who have hired them have been very pleased with our members as employees.
We believe that much of this success is the result of the benefits of our program to employers.
1. During the member’s training, one of our Placement Managers will learn the requirements and functions of the job along with the member, and will remain on-the-job with the member/employee, until the Placement Manager, the member, and the employer are satisfied that the member can work independently and productively.
2. The Transitional Employment placements are part-time and time-limited, typically 6-9 months. After the member completes the placement, Plymouth Bay House will provide and help train another member to take over.
3. If a member is absent due to sickness, or any other reason, the Placement Manager or another member will fill in to make sure that the job gets done. If a Placement Manager fills in, it is at no cost to the employer. This assures you that there will be no gap in coverage.
4. Our members are conscientious, dependable and highly motivated to work. This is the key to their success.
5. Plymouth Bay House participates in the Massachusetts Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) Program. We would be glad to explain the benefits and the Clubhouse can handle all the necessary paper work.
Plymouth Bay House provides members with the opportunity to plan for furthering their educations and, in some cases, pursue further academic study at the Clubhouse, itself.
We help members research programs of study, apply to educational programs, and to acquire grant money to fund their educations.
For those who need to obtain a GED, we have state-of-the-art, interactive software, which guides the user through lessons, evaluates the skill level of the user and suggests supplementary printed material for further study.
